SEPTEMBER IN MELBOURNE

My cousins, Cherry and Edison, moved over to Melbourne over 10 years ago and I’ve been meaning to visit for ages as I’d heard such great things about it.

I was pretty damn ecstatic to finally get round to visiting last September!

Thursday 15th September, 2016

Cherry picked me up from the airport in the evening and we grabbed takeaway pizzas and kebabs for dinner and had them at her flat in Prahran with her boyfriend, John.

Friday 16th September

On my first day in the city, we grabbed an amazing lunch at Sushi Monger and checked out the graffiti on Union Lane.

Degraves Street, full of great food!

Taking a break and making plans at the City Library Café.

We met up with Edison and his flatmate, James, in the evening for ramen.

Saturday 17th September

Cherry took me to the South Melbourne Market where I had a really good paella and wanted to buy all the food!

Ahh, my very short-lived pink hair.

The lovely but very windy St Kilda Beach.

The first time that I had ever tried Cherry’s cooking and it was so good!

Desserts: cupcakes from the church market that morning.

Sunday 18th September

I met lots of Cherry’s friends at a gathering at Eason’s place but Eason wasn’t actually there – he was in Adelaide…

The view from his flat was great, though!

Birthday cakes!

Monday 19th September

Manchester Press for brunch bagels with Cherry and her friends.

I actually got to meet Eason this time!

I love Fitzroy.

Tuesday 20th September

Doing a spot of reading at a café in Brunswick while Cherry taught a piano class nearby.

Hanging Rock.

So excited to see my first ever wallaby!

Northcote.

Wednesday 21st September

The Melbourne Museum was pretty cool.

We also checked out the Jurassic Park exhibition.

The moving dinosaur models were pretty cool but there wasn’t that much to see, tbh.

Thursday 22nd September

Give the Heide Museum of Modern Art a miss.

I liked their light-filled cafe, though.

Cherry met me later in the day and we did some shopping in South Yarra, cooked a stir-fry for dinner and watched Me Before You since I’d finally finished reading it ❤

Friday 23rd September

Healesville Sanctuary!

Can this photo get any more Australian?

KOALA!

The first of many meals to celebrate Cherry’s birthday: a lovely Chinese Restaurant in Boxhill (basically as if I’m in Hong Kong).

Saturday 24th September

The second: 7 course degustation at Steer Steakhouse in South Yarra.

Sunday 25th September

The third: Yum Cha at Lucky Chan’s by Crowne Casino.

Monday 26th September

Met Karman’s friend, Shirley, for dinner at Cookies.

Meeting friends of friends is like an easier/highly successful version of Tinder 😉

Tuesday 27th September

I went on a Tinder date to see a theatre show at Melbourne Fringe called ‘5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche’.

If you wanted to know how the date went: he was lovely but there was no spark for me so we didn’t see each other again.

Wednesday 28th September

My 3rd Tinder date in Melbs went well. We met during the day at the City Library, he showed me around the city, his favourite ice cream place on Lygon Street and went to a rooftop bar, went on the unguarded big stage in the park at night, saw bats and possums, walked along the riverbank and watched the fire show at 9pm.

We saw each other quite a few more times but it didn’t work out in the end.

Thursday 29th September

Chill Day, watched the new season of OITNB and read Fight Club.

Friday 30th September

Met Edison and his friends for Chinese food in town and walked to Fitzroy and around the city.

Shirley took me for some yummy Italian food at Copperwood on Lygon Street.

The seafood spaghetti was really good!

She then blew my mind by taking me to my new favourite place in Melbourne: YO-CHI!

So many great fro-yo flavours and fresh toppings.

LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤
