To celebrate Sadie joining the ultra-cool 27 club, the birthday girl, Marianne and I headed up to Brighton for a day of good food, seaside strolls and a mini bar crawl.

As we wandered down from the station in search of food, we stumbled across this little corner of magic…

Marianne snapped this and you can see my hamster face in absolute awe at the window display.

It’s an awesome little shop filled with Harry Potter goodies.

Of course I had to get a brooch to represent my house.

Where my fellow Hufflepuffs at?!

Our late and very delicious lunch was devoured at Kensington Café which also has a balcony that would be amazing in the summer but not so much during a British April.

After wandering around the wonderful independent shops in the North Laines and checking out the street art on the way…

…we headed to the beach.

Channelling my inner Craig David and walking away from the troubles in my life.

We dipped in and out of a few bars before ending at The Pipeline where we joined a stag do and had a little boogie (yes, I’m 55) to the great band upstairs who were playing some absolute belters (seriously, why do I use words like this?) – think Green Day, Weezer and Blink 182 (not the kind of music I’d listen to daily but excellent to jump around to).

After a few more drinks, we headed back to the big smoke.
