A lovely day out in Bristol with Sarah to celebrate her birthday!
Got lucky and managed to nab the table by the window at Muino.
It felt like we were on holiday and the tapas was yum!
Gorgeous sunset on the way home.
Hong Kong style lunch with my parents in Exeter.
Pretty evening sky.
An excellent and delicious catch-up lunch with Linda at Hyde Park Café, where all of this cost under a fiver!
Paignton beach.
Big thanks to Saz for introducing me to Meadfoot beach and braving British sea swimming, which I’ve come to really enjoy – can’t believe I lived so close for most of my life and had never been here before!
A balanced diet is a Flake in each side of your Mr Whippy.
4 days of exploring to celebrate mum’s 61st birthday, starting with a trip to Salcombe.
It’s beautiful there and we’d initially planned to do the Salcombe to Bolt Head walk, but the car parks were all full so we couldn’t park for as long as we’d have liked.
A good excuse to head back though!
We went for a wander around Kingsbridge before heading over to beautiful Dartmouth, which I hadn’t visited since 2015.
Rockfish do the perfect takeaways to chow down on by the harbour.
Their food is incredible and it’s great that they no longer serve cod due to sustainability reasons.
The next day, we headed to Gloucester as my parents had seen that a Chinese YouTuber had recommended Joy Kitchen as one of the best restaurants for dim sum in England.
It was pretty good and the waitress who served us was brilliant, but I’ve had better dim sum in London.
Next stop was Cheltenham which was a wonderful town to explore and I especially enjoyed the chazzas, as always.
In the evening, we headed to our favourite Chinese restaurant that I’ve been going to since I was little: The Mayflower in Bristol!
(Ignore the 3.5 star review on Tripadvisor – I think most of them are due to bad service, which we haven’t personally experienced and the food is amazing)
On the day of mum’s actual birthday, we headed to the Anchor Inn in Cockwood (lol) for a seafood feast as my friend had recommended it.
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend the seafood platter as it didn’t taste particularly fresh and was bathed in way too much garlic butter, but I’d love to go back to try the individual mussel dishes that mum said looked much fresher as the people on the table next to us had them.
On the final day of exploring, we headed to the beautiful Lyme Regis!
Went for a walk along the Cobb.
We were trying to decide on what to have for lunch when we stumbled across this queue at The Lyme Bay Sandwich Company and decided to join it.
My dad and I ordered crab sandwiches, while my mum and brother had crab baguettes and it gets top marks from all of us!
Just need to remember to bring my own Tabasco for extra deliciousness next time 😉
Next stop was Seaton, where we went for a wander around the small town and my brother kindly treated us all to ice cream by the beach.
Why do I look about 12 in this photo?!
*immediately fires Instagram Dad*
Such a satisfying-looking Whippy!
The final destination of the 4-day tour was in Sidmouth, where I picked up an excellent book at the British Heart Foundation and sat in this giant deckchair!
Tried to go for a walk to Whitsand Beach which is known as a secret cove…
But it’s so secret that I couldn’t find it for the life of me, despite Google maps telling me that I was already at my destination while still being in the woods.
Still, it was good exercise and I found this cute fairy door too!
My dad, brother and I went for a mooch around the Babbacombe charity shops (bought 3 books for £1 each) and walked down to Oddicombe and Babbacombe beach which was fun, despite the incredibly steep walk back up.
Torquay harbour looking gorgeous as always!
Went to check out this Agatha Christie statue that my pal, Nikki, (a big fan) had mentioned.
I must have walked past it so many times and not realised that it was the Agster!
Ice cream for lunch on Goodrington beach.
(I started the day having a bit of a breakdown and obviously that isn’t pictured, so please don’t think that all I do is go to the beach and eat nice food!)
Went for a walk along the coastal path and stumbled across Oyster/Waterside Cove, which was lovely and peaceful.
Was very tempted to grab this gorgeous little dish at the chazza, but didn’t have much use for it right now.
Gorgeous views at Decoy Country Park with Linda.
Another trip to Meadfoot – I made 4 trips here in July!
Finally, I’ll leave you with some of mum’s home-cooked dinners 😀
